I’ve got chargers everywhere.
One for the phone.
One for the laptop.
One for the iPad.
One for the portable charger.
And that’s just mine, there are also a bunch for the all the kids’ stuff.
I’m constantly making sure they’re plugged in, fully charged, ready to go.
God forbid any of them fall below 30% charge.
But it got me thinking - what about us?
Are we as mindful about charging ourselves?
- Our health.
- Our energy.
- Our minds.
We push through tiredness. Skip the breaks. Miss lunch. Ignore the signs.
And yet, we’re the ones keeping everything running.
But, you can’t do your best work on 5%.
The thing with a device is that it will still function almost perfectly whilst on just 5% charge.
But, humans can’t sustain that.
We might think we can, and that's where the damage is done.
And there’s no quick fix.
No overnight charge for burnout.
So maybe we need to rethink the priority list.
Plug ourselves in first.
- Take the walk.
- Drink the water.
- Get the rest.
Fully charged devices are great.
But a fully charged you? That’s how the real work gets done.
