Perfection erases humanity.
"Perfection erases humanity." - Casey Neistat
It’s a phrase that’s more poignant than ever, especially with all the conversations swirling around AI.
AI can draft the perfect email.
Edit the perfect photo.
Write the perfect line of code.
But, while perfection might look good on the surface, it’s not what makes us human.
What makes us human are the imperfections.
The typos.
The tangents.
The emotion.
The passion.
The happy accidents that lead to something unexpected and real.
AI can refine.
It can optimise.
But it can’t feel.
It can’t take a wild guess.
It can’t relate to a pang of nostalgia.
And it definitely can’t tell the messy, unfinished stories that make us connect.
The human experience is all about the heart.
So, while AI is incredibly useful, let’s not lose sight of the feelings that make our work worth doing and our lives worth living.
Because it’s not perfection that moves us.
It’s the authentic human stuff.
It always has been, and it always will be.
